I am done with the Droid experiment

Here's a little secret. There ARE things the iPhone does better than Android just as there ARE things Android does better than Apple. If you say otherwise, you're living in denial.

This is the absolute best post in this entire thread.

There is no such thing as a perfect OS. There is no such thing as a perfect GUI. There probably never will be. Each OS has its advantages, and each OS has its disadvantages. Why? Because everyone is different, and we all have our own idea of what 'works'. And add to that, the actual program code for the OS will never be perfect, as anything as complex as an OS will always have some sort of bug that is overlooked.

In the end, the 'perfect' OS for you is the one that works best for you.

This goes for smartphones, PCs, DVD players, Set-top boxes, TVs, and anything else you can think of that has an OS and an interface.

He was referring to another post where someone was talking about their friend who bought a JB phone off thetime Internet.

I do miss a few things from android - especially the slick turn by turn directions and the better notifications and flash videos. But in the end, I find that I get more done, more often with the iphone 4. Obviously, your milage may vary.

Obviously. Well, you mentioned 'drag and drop' music files as not being inferior - but on my stock droid phone, I can download music from several places (some of which are considered nefarious) besides Verizons services, including MP3 files from Youtube. Does the stock iPhone allow free music downloads (or any for that matter) from non partners?

Out of the box, the iphone supports over the air downloads of music only from the itunes store. However, there is no limitation on where your music must come from which you put on your phone via syncing with itunes. So whether you download from amazon or bittorrent or usenet all these files can be synced onto the iphone.

having said that, can you download music from your phone and play it like android?

i hope my tone doesnt come off as rude, i was asking since i dont own an iphone.

Not rude at all... I think you're asking if you download stuff from iTunes can you then play it on other devices (computers, other phones etc)? The answer to that is yes. Anything you buy in the itunes store you have access to on all other devices signed into itunes on the same account. I don't buy much from the itunes store (i prefer the usenet route) but I do know that if you downloaded a track on your iphone you can transfer it to your computer, or just re-download from itunes for free. Did that answer the question? I don't really download any music with directly to my phone, instead I do everything through my laptop or desktop and later move stuff over to the phone... so I'm not sure if I'm thinking about this the way you are...

I will guarantee you're not getting the kind of battery life with your iPhone that I am with my Fascinate.

And lastly - since the droid os makes it possible to set your droid phone up exactly like an iPhone(y), your logic is fallible. The Samsung phones use a very similar ui - maybe you should have tried one

I thought at first you were being sarcastic about battery life, but after reading through the entire thread, I can't help but believe you are serious. Maybe I'm the only one that noticed but that picture shows your battery at 63% after 24 MINUTES. I guess your idea of good battery life is different from everyone else's.

lol I thought he was being sarcastic too, but was confused with his subsequent posts...an almost 40% drop after 24 minutes is pretty awesome only because of how horrifically bad it is.

I can only hope it wasn't fully charged before he unplugged it.

or he thought "24m" meant 24 months...

Lol. I think he thought it said 24 hrs, but I will say that I have the Charge and it does get pretty good battery life (compared to my friends Tbolt) and there are some things that I notice on this phone that are similar to the iPhone. I can see why Apple filed suit against Sammy.

ha whatever he thought it meant, he was definitely not the best spokesman for battery life with that screenshot.
