Here's a funny video for your afternoon entertainment pleasure. It's really just a cute commercial comparing regular broadband internet to the new Google Fiber internet service that is slowly sweeping the nation. While the comparison in the video isn't directly comparable, it's still a pretty entertaining way to show the average layperson how much better fiber could be for their internet needs.

What's especially funny about this video is that the comparison is also apropos if you are comparing the old dial-up internet to broadband. In fact, this video is probably a more accurate approximation of that comparison. Enjoy!

I wouldn't say Google Fiber is "sweeping the nation". While Austin, TX got the green light for Fiber, they aren't even working out which areas of the city will get access first until 2014. I live just outside of Kansas City, Missouri and based on the progress they've made so far of getting our metro linked in, it'll probably be another couple of years before we see Fiber coming to the suburbs.

I'd really like to know what's going on at Google HQ, because by the time they get their lines ran across the country, companies like Time Warner and Comcast will have had plenty of time to play catch up.

So fiber is going to make my hard drive explode. Sweet.
