HTC Thunderbolt Release Date

This morning I see a lot of articles popping up to scoff at the (potential) $300 price tag on contract. Is that really so high when you take into account it comes loaded with a $100 SD card in the box? Seems about normal to me...

Man I was hoping people did not catch on so soon. See as long as people kept hesitating about the price that would ensure I got my TB on opening day. ;)

$100 SD card?

Amazon.com: 3C Pro 32GB 32G Class 4 C4 microSD microSDHC SDHC Card with SD Adapter: Electronics

the cheapest class 4 32gb micro sd i could find is listed for 81.50 on amazon. I can imagine htc might have gotten them for around 50-60 a piece, as they ordered thousands of them, so its still pretty reasonable.

How much is TB w/o contract? 700 something? So it's worth around 20% the price of a super high tech phone. Sorry for the hijack

I assume the sd card has a 100% markup similar to the gouging that took place when HDMI cables first appeared.

Sdcards are about 100 bucks for a 32 gig so that is the deal. I knew it and I have no problem with it. But again if you not down with it then just wait for something else.

well the boys in blue ALWAYS have a higer MSRP on smartphones than corporate stores. For example: sprints MSRP on a evo is only $449.99

Sprint - Cell phones, nextel phones, wireless phones, direct connect, two-way radio

While Best Buys is ridiculous (and probably to promote new two year contracts, as well as their new buy back program, and to prevent contract cancellations) and set at a whopping $599.99!!

HTC - EVO 4G Mobile Phone - White (Sprint) - APA9292WT evo 4g&cp=1&lp=1&contract_desc=

So BB's price of 749.99 on a blunderbolt is overinflated. The real cost of the phone is likely around $539.99(based on the intro price of the evo and dinc) from big red corporate stores/online. That puts the cost of the sd card(if you use 20%) so...

549.99 - 80% = 107.99

$108 on their sd card is counting for a 30-40% profit, but well say 35% to be safe: 107.99 - 35% = around 70 bucks.

so not that bad really

If you don't like it you can just geeet out!

Its not get out. Its reality. I cant make HTC and Vzw charge less so its either I pay for it, wait for the price to drop (which they will do like the droid x and just take the 32 sd cards out and put a 16 gig in), or see what the bionic is offering. I made my decision to go tb and I am now cool with the price.
