How to wipe data

I want to give my Razr to my grandson. I need to remove all my personal data. What is the best way?

Factory data reset. Itll wipe out everything unless it has been rooted. It wont clear root or roms

^^This. You can do this in settings or through stock recovery. Just note, you'll need to wipe the sd card if that has anything personal on it.

Not sure what root or rom means, but if I do this will he be able to use the Wi-Fi to play games online?

Wiping Data on the phone will return it to an "out of the box" state.. Everything will work as if you just got it from the store.
