how to update my RAZR?

Hello everybody.

All right so i got a new unlocked RAZR from amazon and it came with android 2.3.6 (system version 65.1.40.xt910.asiaretail.en.03) and I want to upgrade it to ICS, but when I go to system update it says its up to date. (Which is weird 'cause I thought it was already an official update)

I rooted the device with motofail but I don't know what else to do, if someone could help me I would really appreciate it.

Welcome to the forums sebasggm! If your phone is rooted, then you will not be able to get the official OTA updates. What method did you use to root?

Good catch sydman... I suppose paying closer attention to the system version would have given me a clue, lol. Stupid me is trying to figure out how you knew that... took me a little while. Initially I was willing to accept that "sydman just knows everything" cuz you always work magic! You the man!

I think the only overseas market that's seen an official ICS update is Latin America (they got it shortly before Verizon did). The OP has an Asian model, so you're 100% right - the official ICS hasn't gone out yet for those devices.

So what could I do to update it to ICS? Is there some sort of guide? Or is the asiaretail system version a problem? Could someone explain me that please!?

I know they do have some ICS roms for GSM versions I believe, that would get you the ICS look. As far as an actual system update there isn't anything you can do until they release it for your area, if you try and update manually to another version of ICS you will brick your phone.

Well I'm in India and I got a message for the ICS update last month. I've already got 2 messages to update. But since my wifi at home is erratic these days to due power problems I havent updated yet.
