How to turn off Droid text Notification

I just got the app Handcent SMS and want to stop the regular Droid text notification to stop. At this point they are both showing up on the notification bar and I just want the Handcent SMS showing. It get old having to clear the Droid text notification too. Anyone have in suggestions of how to get rid of or stop the Droid text notification from appearing?

Open the stock messaging app. Go to settings. then go down to Notification Settings...and uncheck Notifications. That will stop the stock text notifications.
