how to stop a gmail message from going out

I hit the send button by mistake, the message in Gmail started "sending" and since it was taking a while, I wanted to stop the transmission before it completed. I wasn't able to figure it out hoe to do this before the message got sent.

Is there a way to stop the transmission of a message while it's still in process? In Entourage, on my laptop (Mac), this is easy to do. There's a Progress setting that shows the email's status as it's being sent, and you can hit Stop to halt its progress any time before the transmission is completed. I looked but couldn't find any such setting on the Droid.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Well on the Droid you can not stop a text message once you select Send, so I assume it's the same with Gmail.
