How to search for PLACES in other locations?

Pardon the newb question, but using Google Maps "Places", how can I change the location? Example, it finds HOTELS near me, but I want to find HOTELS in some other city. I know I could just do a Google search for that but I like the format of the Places display.

I have a Places and Places directory. Open the directory, tap menu, tap pick location.

Where did you find" places directory"? I can't find that anywhere on my droid x.

Open places then add ' near cityname/zipcode' in the search bar after Hotels.

Ex. Hotels near 19707

Ahh, I finally found it on the internet. It was not in the marketplace though. not quite the same look and feel as the google app, and I had to change location by dragging the map to wherever i wanted to go.

Your tip about searching" near" the target city works great. Odd though that voice input is not available in that search!
