How to revert a droid 2 to a regular phone.

Trying to make my droid 2 just a regular phone and just use for calls and texting. Need to get rid of the data charge on it. I am getting a Kindle HD Fire and will use it for all my smart phone uses thru wi-fi. Will Verizon even allow it?

Verizon does not allow low tier charges on smartphones, they will push you to keep the data plan, even if you do not use it, but you can never return to a 'simple' phone plan as long as your phone will remain a smartphone.
Pay up, or move to Straight Talk...
