How to restore original rom.

My girlfriend's trying to restore her razr maxx back to original factory specs and has the 2.3.6 boot files on her sd and trying to flash them but it wont work...why is this??? Can someone please help us?

Edit... Go to this forum for "Droid Razr Utility".

The utility is essentially a one-stop shop for restoring a phone. You're looking for option 1.
