how to delete single email in a convo?

hi, how do i delete a single email message in a conversation?
i just realized that every time i hit delete, every email message in the conversation gets deleted: both sent and received.

Just press and hold the email you want to delete, a menu pops up.

In the mailbox, you where you see the list of emails. Don't tap the email, though you should be able to delete after opening it too.

When you see the list of emails, pick the one you want to delete, press and hold that email.

the only option i get is delete. there's no delete message...

have you guys actually done it successfully in froyo on your droid 2 or you are thinking about web based gmail? because i just read the froyo manual and it says when you hit archive or delete, you are affecting the entire conversation.

I get it now, I thought you were trying to be funny.
You want to be able to delete some of the email, like editing the other person's previous reply.
I had that ability on the Omnia, it doesn't exist with the gmail app. Maybe you can do that with K9 or Maildroid, I tried both of those products but that that particular feature.
