How to create shortcut to Battery Manager

I would like to be able to click on an icon and see the % battery remaining area of Battery Manager. I see there is a shortcut for battery use (what processes hog the battery). But I would like to see % remaining. Anyone
know how to do this? If not, is there a good battery widget I can download so that I can see % remaining without clicking several times?

I use gauge battery widget from the market. It has an option to have battery % in your status bar.

an unobstrusive one is systray monitor by Creafire AG...easy, shows up in task bar as percentage available, no fuss viewing
