How to copy apps to SD

Im getting ANOTHER phone. I read through somewhere where they mentioned the ability to copy apps (atleast some) to SD card so you dont need to re-download them. Can you tell me how.

Astro Manager does a quick job of creating full back-ups of the .apk files and easy restore.

Note: It doesn't retain your settings, game progress, etc.

Check out airdroid. I was able to backup all my downloaded apps with that and then reinstall them.
