OK, I'll admit it. I am an app idiot!
Just like I can't seem to figure out how to get Open Home or Panda to simply give me extra home pages (I have installed and deleted both several times), I can't seem to coordinate the Screenmode and Screebl apps to not give the lock screen and turn off the screen when not in use and turn on when I oick up the phone.
What experience does anyone else have?

Did you enable screebl? It should have a green icon lit up on the status bar.

Yes but what I hoped I could do is have the phone screen turn on when I pick it up (activate) and sleep when I put it down or when not in use.

Ah I see, yea Screebl won't wake on pickup (not design for that) but it will sleep if you set it down or have it in a position that meets the Screebl's inactive range. Right now I have portrait and landscape set to 10 and 90 degrees. As long as I'm holding the device in these orientations, my display will not blank and lock out. It works quite well.
