how to change my name on outgoing text

It's just me...

I don't think the outgoing message says "me" on the other end. Whatever the receiver has your name set up as, is what it shows. At least that's how it works when my wife gets MY text messages.

The "me" you see is, I think, just there so you can tell the difference between the messages you receive in a 'thread' and those you send out - in that same thread.

Zat help?

Was thinking the same...but someone might want something else..??

I don't know, but I find that to be a little hilarious. :D

Anyway, what app are you using? My guess would be that you have a signature setup that says that. Their caller ID won't show that, as mentioned previously.

Is it me?

It does say me on the other end .I keep getting messages from people I text asking who is this

I'll be darned. Do the recipients on the other end know you? I know on my text setup, messages from my friends show up as whatever I have them logged in as in MY contact list. :icon_eek:

If they have me set up as "Superman" (ahem) in their contact list, then any texts from me show up as "Superman".

kinda like writing your name on your underwear so you don't forget :icon_ devil:

I was looking for the answer to this question because I have the same problem. I'll try to explain it better. When you are in your messaging app (or in handcent), when you see a text message conversation the message from someone else has their name. A message from you to them has "Me" as the name. I realize it doesn't show that way to the person I sent the text to, but on my screen, text messages from me have "Me" instead of my name, for instance.

So let me get this straight..

On my phone:
DrWho: waddup
Me: nadda.. where's the bathroom in this thing?

On DrWho's phone:
Me: waddup
ThirdWave: nadda.. where's the bathroom in this thing?

Sending a text it should only show as "Me" on your phone.. on the other phone it should show what they have you as in their contact list.
Having your own name show up on your phone is a bit redundant imho.. unless you really must refer to yourself in third person.. in that case not seeing your name by your response on your phone is the least of your worries.. lol

"From" name and two copies of every e-mail

I am having the exact same problem. My sister gets an e-mail from me and it says "ME", not my name. But my hsuband gets my name. My sistre also gets two of every e-mail, but my husband only gets one. If I send an e-mail to myself, it comes thru from "ME" and I get two copies. This is a real problem if I am sending an e-mail (for business) to a new person
