How to add pic for address book contact?

This is driving me nuts. How in the hell do you upload a picture and use for a contact? I have contacts who are on FB and those are fine but I'm talking the ones who are not on FB I would like their pic to appear when they call. Or can someone post a link that explains? thanks

Open contact, choose a contact, hit menu and edit. On the top left is your three picture options.
