How often should the notification light flash?

About how many seconds between each flash? Mine feels like a strobe light lol. And it seems to flash really fast when I first get a notification is that normal?

Messaging app and just standard text message.

You can download ChompSMS or Handcent to replace your SMS app and you can change the look, color, vibrate pattern, or speed etc etc.
