How do you turn off media/apps sound?

I can't find an option anywhere to mute media/app sounds....

Open the app and use the volume button and move as low as possible.

Most apps make noise upon opening - I would like to be able to mute them prior to opening them...

I'm a bit stunned there is no option for this in the settings

Sorry, I have not experienced a noise when I open my music or camera app. I have a rooted Droid but I do not recall this issue prior to rooting.

One option is to get a volume manager app, something like Sound Manager - Android app on AppBrain. Prior to launching a noisy app, first go into it and turn the media volume down.

You should try download Audio Manager.

Nice little widget to toggle through any volume settings, pretty sweet actually.
