I keep seeing every now and then how the droid can do tethering... Can you do this without rooting the phone?

Spend 30 seconds searching for it...it has been discussed at great length on both this board and all over on the internet.

I'm.mobile right now and don't have time to search the whole forum. if u can't answer the question, please don't waste my time

In short, no, tethering is not covered in your data plan. Tethering costs extra (and I think won't be officially available till next year). However, if you don't go nuts with it it is doubtful Verizon will ever know.

Pdanet is it if you don't want to root.

Well... that depends on what OS. Is on the pc. If it is windows or mac then pdanet will work with usb, but if you have linux then pdanet only works with bluetooth dun, which is difficult to set up and slow. I have found that Proxoid or Azilink are better for linux tethering via usb.

wait so ur paying 30 for using the droid and then an extra 30 for tethering?

I paid a one time fee of $30 for life afaik... Of course I still pay the $24/month for internet acces on my phone.

If I had researched more there is probably a free tethering service out there, but I just wanted to be legit... or semi legit, because its against verizon... lol.
