How do i root my droid 2.2.1 frg83d

i have no idea what i am doing. Trying like hell, but every time i go thru to the recovery and run the zipped file it tells me it failed. anyone know what i am doing wrong?

i used a zipped file, copied onto my sd card. booted in recovery. tried to install the update. it says signature not verified. rebooted, and still the same.

Did you hit the allow update zip from sd card option first?

it was originally named SuperOneClickv1.5.5-ShortFuse.zip and i have followed the instructions copy onto sd card. turn phone off. turn phone on w/ x and power button. get to command prompt by using volume up and camera button. w/ d-pad select run update.zip. it says e-signature failed / operation aborted. where do i allow sd update?
