how do i get back to stock?

yesterday some of the buttons on my screen stopped working when the phone is in portrait view and my soft keyboard is not letting me input the correct keys in both portrait and landscape... i am running UD 9.8 and haven't had any issues til yesterday. I changed to at least 3 different ROMs hoping that that was the problem but no matter what i do i have the same problems.... now i can't seem to get my phone back to stock... I downloaded the 2.01 and 2.1 update.zips but they won't install... I keep getting this:
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted

+1 on this error message. I'm having a fight with my phone in which I may start a new thread, but it does seem to boil down to this same error code 7 for me as well.

I might be wrong, but for the 2.1 update.zip I think it's set up that you have to be coming from esd56, I would suggest using RSD Lite and flashing the sbf. I don't know of a different way, but there could be one.
