How can I delete a Gmail account from my Droid?

I click on 'system settings' but there is no option to delete the Gmail account listed in all the links I've looked at.

I have the Android version 4.1.2 if that helps.

If you go into system settings / accounts / Google / open the account you want to delete and tap the menu button (may be in the upper right corner) / remove account...I do not think you can remove an account if you only have one account on the phone - in that case, you would need to do a factory reset to completely wipe the phone.

I went to 'system settings' & 'google' listed under Accounts. I clicked on the email I wanted to delete, hit the menu button on my phone (bottom left button) & 'remove account' comes up. :icon_ banana:
