When I click on the home, back, menu, or search button, most of the time they work but they will sometimes not do anything and won't vibrate but then i try again and it works. It seems to be inconsistent or something. It doesn't always do what it is supposed to do.

Anyone experience this on their Razr Maxx?

Half the time, I am using a charger from my previous Droid Bionic..the voltage is the same...just slight mA difference...can this cause it?

How many apps are on your phone?? Memory could be an issue. Have you tried to just reboot it? If so and it doesn't work, see below.

Is your phone slow too? Is it just slow to respond and kinda clumsy??
If so..

Sorry to tell ya this but you only have two options. Number one, and if you do this you will have to reset everything on your home screen, but its better than the other option.

Go into settings, applications, manage applications, all, home screen, clear data...... this should clear up your issue

If not, you'll need to Do a factory reset.

Unfortunately, I've tried all of the above. Haptic feedback buttons don't always work 100% of the time as they should.
I don't really have that many apps at the moment. Haven't re-installed many of them due to the most recent factory reset.

That's odd. If you did a factory reset, did you wipe all data except your external SD card?

Did a factory reset deleting everything, and another one not deleting the storage. Not rooted. Running stock.

Have you shut the phone off and let it charge to 100%??? Humor me and do that if you haven't. And clear the data on your home screen. Then if the problem still persists, let me know tomorrow. We'll have you boot into safe mode, and if your phone works well in safe mode, that would make the issue app related

Power off the phone, now press the power button and when you see the big red M, hold both of the volume buttons down all the way through the boot animation. You will feel a short and then a long vibration. Release the volume buttons. You will see safe mode on the bottom left hand side of the screen.

User installed apps will not work in safe mode. But pre installed apps will work.

Use the phone like this for an hour or so. Then tell me if the phone is still slow and unresponsive.

To get out of safe mode. Simply power the phone down and power it back on.

Thanks. I am currently in Safe Mode.
So far I'm not experiencing any issues with the home screen not responding.
I am able to open a few 3rd party apps.
What should be my next move?

Well, my approach would be this. Delete all of the apps you have installed. One by one reinstall and check the phone for performance. Facebook was one that was killing me. It caused my phone to act like garbage. YRMV.

Does safe mode affect how the phone reads the sd card? Not sure if I have an sd card that's causing my phone to act up. I'll remove the apps and install one by one as you suggested.

Safe mode doesn't allow you to access your gallery if that's what you mean. I would think that it doesn't allow access to your ext SD card at all.

I was able to access it using the My Files app that comes pre installed on the device. I did a factory reset with no SD card. Since it has enough memory included, I'm going to see how it runs without it.
