I've tried installing both ways. Nada both ways

I was so disappointed when google yanked the "purchased" apps section from the market. Am i the only one who sees this as a big deal?

I was kinda disappointed as it's been there in the last few versions, but got over it quick.

I didn't look at the link you posted but know that if it's and older version of the playstore and you install it, playstore will upgraded itself unless you disable it from doing so... it requires some editing deeper in the system or just a simple freezing of an app(I forget the steps to disable the update) maybe search for "disable playstore updating" or similar.

Maybe someone with better info will chime in!


EDIT: about that door, I've always wondered the same! unlock them both GEEZ..

It appears to be a separate app. So the self updating of the play store should not be an issue. So far i have tried both methods of install but upon opening the app it force closes. Not sure what I'm doing wrong?

Yup, rooted and stock 4.0.4
I tried installing as a normal apk and it crashes when i open the app.
Then i installed it in system/app and it still crashes when i open it

How did you go about putting it in system/app? Did you use ADB or did you use Root Explorer or equivalent?

I used root explorer to accomplish it. Unfortunately I'm not adb experienced.

Neither am I, don't worry. After using RE, did you tap on it and then click install? And did you make sure the permissions were set correctly? What boxes did you have checked?

After using re i installed it but as far as the permissions, that is were i must be going wrong. Ive come up dry searching on what they are supposed to be set on. I did mimic the permissions to what the actual play store had it set on. But that didn't work either.

Almost forgot, i tried rebooting after this as well. That was fruitless as well.

Maybe it needs to be pushed via adb for reasons unknown to me? I've followed that thread on the original link but some of what they used to get it to work is beyond me.
