hide soft keyboard after sending txt?

I have a Droid 2 Global, got it two days ago. I like the touch screen for sending texts, however when I first got the phone I thought the keyboard minimized or left the screen after sending the text.

Is there a setting to hide the soft keyboard after sending a text instead of hitting back to hide it so i can see the last few texts in the conversation? Or should I just deal with hitting back after sending a text?

I don't think there's a setting for this. I can tell you that handcent sms does it automatically and it also comes with a lot of customizeability and its all free in the marketplace.
