Hey Moderators I have a thought...

Please update if this ever comes into fruition. Would love to try out tapatalk but this is the only forum I really visit haha.
We've been discussing it at length in the mod forums.

Since our mobile site went live we don't see a very big need for Tapatalk. Mobile site has been working out VERY well for us so we are going to pass.

Thank you for the suggestion though. We ALWAYS consider any and all suggestions that our members bring to our attention.

We want you ALL to have a great experience here and know that your voices are heard.

Thanks everyone for your input.
 that's cool, one less app I have to install and take up space lol. Thanks for the update. :)

Why would you "pass" on this? It's free for the forum owner, and is as simple as uploading a few files and adding one line to the header of vBulletin.

Why do you choose to deny users the choice of using Tapatalk or the mobile style? Adding support for it doesn't force people to use it.

My only thought is that maybe you're running ads on your mobile style and don't want to lose that potential income. (I haven't actually used the mobile style, so just a theory on my part.)

I haven't seen any adds on the mobile site (not saying they aren't there, but if they are they're not noticeable or distracting. But even if they do and that is the reason SO WHAT?? This is FREE (you haven't been asked to pay for your membership in any way) and there are costs associated with running this site. So it is not only their option but completely reasonable should they decide to get revenue from ads.

It would appear that with Tapatalk you have to get the paid version to be able to post to a forum anyway (according to their homepage, I haven't used it though) so given the free mobile version of the site or the Tapatalk I'll take free.

And that's your choice, so why deny others the choice of using TapaTalk? (And the Droid version is completely functional in its free form while in Beta.)

Just as the program is free and functional "in beta" do you not think it's reasonably likely that at somepoint TapaTalk will charge for the server(s) end. Sure it's free now to drive membership, at some point if they decide to charge (not saying they will, but they could) then forums like this will have to either pay or p!ss of all their users that use/want it. Since they already have the mobile version setup and running well, AND so few people use or are aware of TapaTalk why take the chance. If they didn't already have the mobile version of the site it would probably be a viable alternative. Furthermore since the app is in beta it could lead to more headaches than the moderators and admins care to deal with (people posting and PMing about it not working).

TapaTalk makes their money from the App, not from the forum owners. It's to their benefit to get as many forums supported as possible. It's not new. The iPhone app has been around for a while.

No, just like the iPhone version, you will need the paid version ($2.99) to post. The free version will still allow you to view. But, one purchase of the app works with any/all forums that support it.

I'm not sure how many other users would be willing to spend 3$ just to view one forum in Tapatalk, especially if the free mobile version works.

You could say that about any paid app in the Market... But AGAIN, we're talking about having the OPTION available to those that want to use it. I've set this up on my own forum, so I know what it takes to get it set up. 10 minutes max. No cost. No reason not to offer it to the users.

So how much is Tapatalk paying you to pressure other forums? :work1:
LOL, just like using the animated smileys.

Sometimes its like I'm reading responses like what my kid would say when I tell him no about something. If the owners decide not to do something, so be it. Let it go, move on.

Yep, everyone is welcome to go start their own Droid forum if their not happy here.

I'm still waiting on an official response from the Admin on why it isn't being implemented. "We decided to pass" is weak. I mean, he/she spent the $150 for vBSEO to help with SEO on the site, so he/she wants more traffic. Not sure why they would pass on an option that could drive more traffic to the site.

And, yes, there are other droid / android forums to vist, and several are already supporting TapaTalk as an option, with others in the process of adding it.
