Decided to actively search for an update just now, Go to About Phone, System updates:

Check for update not available at this time.

Try again later.

Anyone seen that before?

There are a couple of things you can try...

#1 - go to settings>data manager>social applications and make sure "sync over wifi" is not checked. If it is checked, try it while connected to wifi, or just uncheck it and try again.

#2 - If #1 doesn't work, try dialing #35468#, once it says 'login initiated', do a soft reset (hold down power + volume-down). Once it reboots, give it a minute and try again.

#1 did nothing.

#2 fixed it. I am now up-to-date! :)

#2 I tried first time and it wouldn't first reboot so I tried again and again tried fast rebooting but to no Avail. I went to go check and the message said it.

good deal! All that means, by the way, is that your phone is communicating with Moto's servers

are you saying it did or did not work?

Is the 4G sim card removable? If so there's another way that works, for some reason. You power down, remove the card and power back up. Once it's powered up all the way, power down, replace the card and power up. You should be able to check for updates. WARNING: Be sure to put the card in correctly. If not you can fry the card. I did and had to get a new one.

I've had this happen several times with several different Motorola Android phones. It's not anything new. Outside of network/phone issues, it generally just means that there's some work being done on the delivery system end of things. A lot of people on other forums reported this last week, thinking it meant an update was about to be pushed. But most of the time, it doesn't mean anything.
