HelpASAP Broke new phone

DM1.0 is the ROM but you are using it to get the sprecovery and nandroid. After it is installed just install another rom.

like this:
Before you start make sure u back up your data and apps. Install a backup like titanium backup makes your life easier

Thanks droid life for making this vid, give them some love

follow this first
the main request i've received over the last week has been "can you show us how to install a custom rom?!?" and today i finally had a chance to put a video together. in this video we chose to use Blackdroid's new Ultimate Droid 5.0 over Bugless Beast, but as i've noted in the video, the installation instructions are the same for both so please after this video, do not ask me to do another video for Bugless.
*warning time* - as always, you are performing these tasks at your own risk. we are not recommending that you do ANY of these, but simply providing information to you. there is a chance you could brick your phone or do other permanent damage so please do as much research as you can beforehand.
before we get started - you need to make sure you've rooted your phone. the best way to do that is by using droidmod1.0 or through this video. you should also install the droidmod1.0 rom which this video will show you how to do. after you've completed those 2 steps, you need to download the file below and then it's on to the video or step-by-step instructions...

download: ultimate droid 5.0 (alt link) (alt link2)

step by step instructions
step-by-step instructions...
Nandroid Backup Installation Instructions:
-Update & backup any files you wish to restore, this will wipe /data
-Extract the files from the archive using WinRAR or a similar program
-Place the extracted folder (the ROM) into the "nandroid" folder on your sdcard
-Reboot into recovery mode (hold the power and "x" button at the same time)
-Wipe data/factory reset
-Wipe cache partition
-Backup/Restore
-Advanced Nandroid Restore
-Choose backup (select the ROM) "ultimatedroid5"
-Perform Restore
-Enjoy!
*note 1* update 3/4 - to get back to stock - in theory you should be able to get back to droidmod1.0 by booting into recovery and choosing one of the nandroid backups that droidmod created during its install. once you get back to that recovery image, you should then be able to install droidmod1.0 again and revert back to stock. (any rom pros want to weigh in on that logic?)

*note 2* - for all the support in the world on this rom, visit Blackdroid's running thread here.

*note 3* - metamorph tutorial in the works still.

*note 4* - "will i receive the 2.1 ota official update if i do this?" answer is "no."

or use rom manager. Before you flash any other roms backup your apps with titanium or astro. I personally use them both. I backup my apps with both of them. Then I restore my apps with astro so that they are stored on my sd card. And restore the data for my apps with titanium so I do not have to redo the settings for those apps.

That was my original problem i fllwed step instructions on the video installing droid mod 1.0 tried 3 times n did not work now i jus noticed my keyboard isnt lighting up all the time only sometimes and my advanced task killer is showing apps and sruff running that i have not opened all i did was root is this a commoj prob until u install a rom or is something wrong. Also since I am only rooted I still shouldn't have a nandroid folder correct? That folder gets creat during back up process right? I'm sorry for all questions and I'm very glad everyone has been helping with my noob questions

I just remembered that when this sh request that says allow or deny it has a box that says remember I don't remember clicking the remember box the first time I did it could that had been y I got stuck in boot loop 2 times and one time it loaded but then froze and rebooted and got stuck. I'm just wondering if I didn't check the remember box maybe it messed something up which wouldn't allow it dm 1.0 to work properly?

That could be part of the problem. Also get rid of ATK its useless and causes more problems than its worth. About dmupdater. Open your superuser app and tap all the things listed. Those are your permissions, now they will ask for them again, this time hit remember.

I am really hoping someone here can assist me as I don't want to post a new topic for something that is such a similar situation.

I posted my reply in a place that is probably not appropriate but I thought it was at the time. If anyone here could give this a read, I am having the stuck Motorola Logo issue and I can't get Nandroid to fix it.

I really hope I can get this up and running again soon..... I've been up all night and yesterday attempting to fix this with no luck at all.

This is a boot loop. Most likely cause is not wiping data and cache before flashing the new ROM. When you boot into recovery wipe data and cache then restore the new ROM and you should be good. Also make sure you battery is above 60% if its too low when you flash the ROM will cause problems too.

Thank you for the quick reply it's the first one I've had all night.
After I got the Moto logo I learned to wipe data and cache , and attempted to restore from backup, it appears by going through advanced that I only have one backup, the preinstall one that was created before the install. After loading this I have had no luck getting past the Moto logo. :( Do you have any other suggestions?

Should I wipe data/cache AND do the update.zip ? I attempted all three THEN Nandroid backup and that did not work either. I also attempted just doing the update.zip and that didn't work.

*EDIT* I think my battery may have died. My screen is black. I noticed the white light by the charger would not come on while my Droid was plugged into the wall or the computer while SD was mounted using SPRecover, but now that the screen is off and I can NOT get it to turn on, the white light that is usually on while plugged in is now finally on. I hope this is an indication of it getting some kind of charge because the power button won't turn it on right now...

So did you go from droidmod to UD trying to use update.zip? That's a no no....

You should be able to wipe data and cache and restore that backup.....

Are you using sprecovery or clockwork?

Ok that's the answer. Your battery did die, the bad news, its going to take hours to charge. Up to 10hrs.....so plug it into wall charger and let it be. Then boot into recovery wipe data and cache then restore your backup.

No my update.zip is still the same. I am using SPRecovery which I believe was installed during my attempt at

Loading DroidMod Roms with DMupdater, Reflashing to Older Sholes/DroidMod Roms

Loading DroidMod Roms with DMupdater, Reflashing to Older Sholes/DroidMod Roms

Everything I did seemed to go fine until the last step when it was supposed to reboot and be "rooted". I never got to load my Droid back up to see if I had "super permissions" I believe it's called. So I still am not entirely sure the rooting is there, just that it failed to reboot on the very last step.

I found UltimateDroid when searching all over Google for answers to my problem, and was hoping it would help me because my current Nandroid backup was not working even after wiping cache and data. Now that I know that should have worked and is not working, I am even more unsure about what to do.

I am sure you are right about my dead battery. But my battery has been on for all night, and it was on when I attempted to restore my backup file after wiping data and cache. Perhaps I did not do them in the right order. Is it important to wipe data before cache? I may have done cache first if it even matters, although I feel that it shouldn't. Are you saying my battery was probably too weak at the time of me doing all this to complete the process and something bad happened? From doing previous projects I always learned to keep constant power on any device I'm messing with, so I kept it plugged into the wall for the entire process, however I'm sure it wasn't charging because the white light wasn't on during that process.

Ok...now I see what all happened. You used droidmod to root and once it booted into recovery you never got back am I right?

I was using Droidmod to root but I got into recovery mode and got all the way to Step 35 in that page. I was able to select and deselect all the features I wanted, and it got through the install process and my phone said everything was complete. It was supposed to reboot itself and then I never got past the Moto screen :(

However after thinking about it, I may not have held down X and gotten into recovery mode the first time and started back where I left off at DMUpdater when it came back on. So you could be right, but this was all late last night and I've been searching for a fix since yesterday.... I wish I could remember every detail where I might have screwed up but I could swear I followed that guide to every last step. I took much longer than the average person to ensure I knew all the steps before I started and somehow I still screwed it up...
