Help with weird dialer issue.

this problem comes back no matter what rom i run i have even unrooted my phone and installed stock froyo just to see and the problem comes back so i know its in the settings somewhere and i just cant find it.

when i install a new rom the dialer will be fine for a bit then i will loose the tabs on top of the dialer for "Phone, Call Log, Contacts, and Favorites"

does anyone have any clue as to what could be causing this issue.

oh another thing.

when i make a call the tabs come back after the call but if i back out of the phone app then come back into it the tabs are gone again......
