My phone is doing an automatic update and I'm running rubix. What do I do? Is it gonna mess my phone up? If verizon gonna know I'm running a different rom?

You don't have to install the update

I've shown different rom's to Verizon employees. They did nothing. This is something you are allowed to do. Of course they are allowed to void your warranty too. This even happens with other devices if you use the non-suggested batteries though. I've never heard of Verizon tracking which phones are rooted and which are not.

Wouldn't say it's allowed, employees are probably just turning a blind eye to it.

When I had my Droid 1 rooted, I went into Verizon and one employee noticed my phone's custom ROM. he showed me his rooted D2, then two other employees showed me thier rooted Droids. He told me they estimate between 35-40% of the phones are rooted.

Sry I sounded scared, I thought it was going to automatically install! Another question, if verizon found out I'm running a custom rom and they void my warranty, will it have any effect on my insurance on my x seeing as I broke my screen?
