Help Please!(Rooted)

I just joined the forums (now that i need help lol ), i posted my problem along with my introduction but want to see if i can get quicker answers here.Any how just got done rooting my droid tonight and am in the process of installing my apps again till i see ones just completely missing. Yes from the phone and the market. I know its not a theme or ROM problem being that i am stock root. Has this happen to anyone else? Is there some sort of market update i am missing??

Did you root to 2.1 or 2.2? If you rooted to 2.2 it is a known issue, there is a fix though: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/team-chaos/49974-market-update-fix-froyo-leaked-version-2-a.html

Nope 2.1, haven't gotten 2.2 yet.

what apps are missing from each? Some apps just disappear from the market. ie PORN

The question I have is how you rooted. SPR can be used to root via nandroid restore or by installing an update.zip. ADB can do it by pushing the superuser.apk to /system/app. While apps can and do disappear from the market, the only method that might cause apps to disappear from a phone is a nandroid restore. How did you root your phone?

Edit: another question - why was it necessary to reinstall all of your apps? Rooting does not remove any apps unless you data wipe and this is only needed when changing roms or moving from 2.0 to 2.1, 2.2 etc

Okay, I've got you. In your intro post you said only one app. You can't find a specific Handcent app?

The data wipe called for in the proceedure you followed is unnecessary when using spr to flash an update.zip to root. There is nothing wrong here with your circumstances, meaning nothing missing or broken. I think the app is just not on the market. I'm not sure what you are looking for but I searched Handcent and only a keyboard and some font packages came back. There were some other apps from Handcent available and they are gone at this time.
Edit: The data wipe/factory reset you did cleared out everything in your data partition which is where all apps you install are kept, unless you know how to mount the system and write them to /system/app. I'm guessing since you just used the guide on DroidLife to root, this is not the case. Some advice, go slow, take time and learn what you are doing before you do something that can't be undone because you don't understand what you are doing. I'm not saying you are dumb, just be careful.

Totally understand what your saying and was doing a little more research. Found out that for the past week or two the market has been experiencing problems with disappearing apps, i finally found handcent this morning but it took forever and a day to download. After everything was said and done i did go back into market to search for it again and it was gone:icon_eek: so it is indeed a problem with the android market. Anyhow jut got my first ROM going and i love it so far!! dancedroid
