HelixLauncher /HelixLauncher 2

I installed HelixLauncher on my unrooted Droid (Ver 2.0.1) and loved the thing. I had heard about a possible problem with setting it to the default launcher causing the looping thing so I had not set it as the default. Sometimes it would ask which I wanted for the default and it appears that I accidently selected the stock laucher as the default. Now I cannot get HelixLauncher back. I have tried uninstalling it and redownloading it and searched through all the settings, rebooted and did the battery thing.

Is there anyway to get HelixLauncher back. I had it set perfectly.

I'm having the same problem. I can't figure out how to set it as default after accidentally setting my Home launcher as the default.

Hmmmm, have you tried going into "manage applications">Helix Launcher and trying to set it as the default homescreeen? Perhaps it could override your previous choice.

Set the application filter to "All" in the applications managers then scroll down to the Home app. Remove the default setting.

Or download the Home Switcher app.

Great! Thank you so much. I never would have figured that out on my own.:icon_ banana:

Okay sort of a stupid question but I have to ask.

In the market place it says that Helixlauncher2 is for the Nexus (I think because Nexus had 2.1). But now that I have the 2.1 update, can I use the Helixlauncher2 or can I only use Helixlauncher??

If the marketplace is showing you Helixlauncher2, then it is compatible with your device now. The marketplace hides apps that are incompatible with the device it detects you running.

That said, the only thing Helix2 does that Helix1 doesn't is the 3-D app drawer, which even with a 1GHZ overclocked Droid, I find to be far too slow. I mean, it is neat to show the effect to someone, but working with it every day is very annoying, whereas Helix1's app drawer is blazingly fast.

Apparently Helix2 does not work with Droid's stock 2.1 (at least from what I read on here). It works on some of the custom ROMs (perhaps they were built with the Nexus 2.1).

When you say 3d app drawer, do you mean like stock in that it slides up and down like a drawer? I notice you cannot do that with helix1 that you have to hit the back button to close it.

No, the 3D app drawer looks totally different than the one on stock Droids. Looks cool, but adds no functionality and has been known to lag. The Nexus and some custom Droid ROMs have it.
