IS there a setting to turn this on? I plugged in headphones for the first time that I have used before with another phone. The sound still comes out of the phone speakers. Any ideas?
No it should switch over as soon as you plug it in. Have you tried to pair that came with the phone just as a test? You can also try blowing some compressed air in the jack, could have some dust down there blocking the connection.
Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner. How stupid of me. Using the Seidio "Active" and really have to firmly push it in. On my old phone with a case never had to. Thanks.

I found this problem with two different cases when I used an angled plug. The earplugs that come with the phone work fine with the case I use (they have a straight plug).
I had this problem with the first 2 cases I used. Oddly I've had 2 Otterbox Commuters 1 white the other black. Neither one is a knock off. The white one was made in China the Black in the USA. I had to modify/trim the hard shell piece on the white one for a headphone plug to fit as well as the area where the charging plug goes. The charger that came with the phone worked ok, as its got a low profile but any aftermarket one didn't until I trimmed the top part of the hard plastic piece. Ironically, I got a second (black) Commuter that was made in the USA & did not have to make any modifications in order for a plug to go into either the headphone jack or charging port even with the thicker wireless charging back installed.
