HD Dock issues with audio out

i have the Droid 4 - bought the Motorola HD Dock - tried using the audio out on dock and no sound - Motorola tech support could not help
audio out on phone works fine (not on dock)
any thoughts??

Probably not much help but...

I know when I use my car dock there's no audio for voice directions but if the Navigator is on without the dock, voice works. Also, although I had streaming music and tunes through the JVC radio the 1st time I tried, on a subsequent attempt I got no sound. Since i was driving I couldn't troubleshoot it.
