Handcent SMS problem

I just starting using the popup chat feature of handcent and I noticed the LED light on my phone didn't light up anymore when I got a text message. Can I not use that feature if i use the pop up?

Since the pop-up turns the screen on, and by default the LED is not on when the screen is on, that's why you're not seeing it.

When the screen goes blank, the LED should be visible again.

Ok, thanks. But even when my screen turns off the led doesn't light up.

The LED only comes on when the screen is off and you haven't read the message. So if you have acknowledged the message, replied to the message or touched the screen in any way, Handcent thinks you've read the message and therefore won't display the notification LED or Notification icon anymore. To test what I'm saying send yourself an text message and let the screen timeout and go blank without touching the screen. The LED will then start blinking and the Notification icon will still be there.
