Gravity Sensor

I was looking at some Motorola aandroid products and I saw this feature that was called a "Gravity Sensor" and I had no idea wtf that is? Someone care to enlighten me? I Google's it but all I got was a list of devices that had it. Couldn't find any actual detailed explanations of what it was and I'm really curious.

YES! I've heard about that! It lets you check for gravity. You open the window and hold your phone out and drop it. If it falls to the earth, then you know there's gravity!

LMAO! Haha! Just messing with you! I'm wondering if that's referring to the "accelerometer" or whatever it'c called that tells you what orientation your phone is in? This way your phone knows when to switch to landscape...
