Gps killing my battery life

I noticed that the gps on my Droid incredible is using 89% of my battery life. How can I reduce it?

UH, turn off the GPS??

It is a pig and unless you need it turn it off

I realize I need to turn it off. The question is HOW to turn it off.

gotcha,

Menu, settings,location, uncheck VZW location services and standalone GPS services and it is off. When a program wants to use the GPS it will ask to turn it on, just remember to shut it off later
BTW, I have the power control widget on my second home screen and it allows me to control my GPS, backlight data connection and bluetooth from there. VERY HELPFUL

My GPS is on 24/7 never an issue with battery.

Your issue is an app is not turning it off when done with it.
