My phone is running UD 8.0. It is over clocked using sp3 kernal it alternates between 1000 at max and 125 on demand. My phone will shutdown whether it is using copilot or google maps. I know the copilot has maps installed on the sd card so it should get that hot i think. It doesnt mater where i set the overclocking at even if i set it at 600 max it still overheats when I use the gps for a long time.

You might try a different kernel, all kernels are different...a Chevy 1.0Ghz is going to act differently than a P3 1.0 just like a P3 1.0 kernel underclocked to 0.6Ghz is going to act different than an actual 0.6Ghz kernel...you have to experiment

No problem, even when you switch ROM's you potentially have to go back kernel searching, so when you do find one that works...hold on to it :)
