Google Voice Problem

Everytime I try to listen to a message on google voice, my phone acts like im on a live phone call. So everytime I put the phone up to my ear, the screen shuts off. The problem is that when the screen shuts off, it closes google voice and the message stops playing. Has anyone else run into this problem? Anyone have an answer?

Sorry, don't use Google Voice for actual voicemail. I use Youmail. ANYONE ELSE???
