I agree but it seems as though that would be something they would want to do. They already have the code designed to 'push' from Gmail to notify us with immediate e-mails. So why not adapt that for the GV App.
I would much rather be immedialty notfied of text messages and have the gmail app be a 'polling' app. But this is all my opinion only.
