Question: Do any of you guys still use Skype? I used Google Hangout for some video calls and now that my daughter is away at college I will use Duo or hangouts even more.

I've actually use them all. Unfortunately the people I know all use different platforms (Android, iOS. Windows, windows Pc, or Mac) and all have different apps. It would be nice if we could get some of these programs to be able to talk to each other. Ie if I had Apple, FaceTime would work with Hangouts or Duo. I know that is asking too much.

That's asking for the sun and the moon as far as Apple is concerned. FaceTime will never come to Android.
I had a co-worker, happily living the Android life, switch to Apple once her daughter had a kid. Daughter and son both have iPhone and wanted her to be able to FaceTime.

Here's my problem with Duo, or at least what I consider a big drawback. Everything I read says smartphone with nary a mention of tablet or computer. So will it work on a non-cell tablet?

For me, most of the time that I do video chatting I'm either on the iPad or Nexus 9, or possibly a computer, while I'm at home. FaceTime, Hangouts and Skype all can do that on practically anything, though FaceTime is strictly Apple stuff.

Hangouts may not be for everyone but it works with many devices. Now allo needs to be installed, again another app on my phone.

Agree. I use it for work. I set up a few people who are not on our Business accounts with personal accounts. I couldn't connect to them?!?!?
Took me all day to figure out why. By default:
"You cannot use Skype Business with Skype Personal"
Seriously? This is the Default setting??
I swear MS makes it difficult to be a fanboi...

So has anyone tried Duo? Rumor has it that Allo will be out this week, so I thought I'd resurrect this thread. I've also just installed Duo. My wife is a little pissed off that she cannot get a new iPhone for 2 or 3 weeks yet.
Way to blow, Apple.
So last night when I broke the news that Apple didn't make nearly enough phones and they are back ordered for 2 - 3 weeks, she spoke sweet sweet music to me:
"Should I just get an Android, baby?"
