Nexus devices have always been the very first devices to receive updates to the latest and greatest versions of android. Nexus devices run AOSP and are easily bootloader unlockable and rootable. Now there is one more reason to own Nexus devices. Google has announced that starting this week they will begin to roll out monthly OTA security updates. The first update of this kind rolled out today to the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7, Nexus 10 and Nexus Player. This fix does include a fix for the stagefright exploit among other security fixes. The fixes will also be released to the public at the same time via Android Open Source Project. Google also stated that Nexus devices will receive platform updates up to two years after being released and security updates up to 3 years after release.
