ANOTHER app Google... Really.... 
I like Allo so far... the stickers are fun, it has real time "last read" thingy so you can see when the person has read your message or is typing, and the text suggestions are pretty cool. I do hope to see a dark skin and sms in the future.

^no sms support yeah then what's the point.
I liked it more than I thought I would. But I use Hangouts so much already that I can't see this replacing that or sms.
One thing I like about Hangouts is that I can use it on my computer. I tried using Arc Welder & BlueStacks to run it but that didn't work
I've still got it installed, but my wife & Google are my only contacts there.
If it had SMS support, it could replace Messenger for me. I wouldn't thin it'd be hard to do the animations & text scaling when others have allo installed, but not offer those options when they do. Basically, an auto-convert to allo chat vs SMS or MMS.
Idk how long I'll keep it without SMS support, but that's a big issue for me.
I do believe this is geared more towards developing countries where cell service is scarce & they still pay by the message, but have wifi in some locations. That's part of why things like WhatsApp have done so well, those markets.

Yeah... Nothing fantastic and my girl already yelled at me for sending her messages to download the app like it's spam. That's going to annoy a lot of people

Yeah, I sent a message to a friend of mine whom I have talked to in years to say hello using Allo. Big mistake. It looks like Spam, so that's why I didn't get a reply. LOL

Why can't you use Hangouts with SMS?
I downloaded it and tried it. Actually started to like it a lot, then looked for the option to make it default sms app and nothing. If it cant function as an sms app then it's pretty useless to me. Too bad too. I really did like it. Will probably uninstall tonight after work. Good try Google but you may as well have just called it Hangouts+.
