Is the gmail a stock version or has it been themed?

I'm running Liberty GB v.9 with gingercomb juiced theme... everything else downloads and updates (installs) fine this is the first thing that hasn't and gave me that not signed properly error

Oh ok here's what I would do - backup you data from gmail (so you don't lose all your settings) using titanium backup then uninstall gmail then just download the new version from the market and restore data from titanium.

No offense and I really do appreciate your help by all means.. I think I'm gonna hold off on doing that just for a bit till I can research more on what's the cause for this.. Liberty is showing a few bugs and if this is another I don't want to be without my gmail just in case same error occures after I completely delete it and then try to reinstall it you know? Lol

Other devices have had problems updating Gmail tonight. I also can't update but others are reporting they are starting to take the updates. Pretty sure it will be fine by tomorrow.

Gmail new version is 2.3.5 I was able to download the .apk to my SD card I rebooted my phone then installed new version without a hitch! Welcome back gmail lmao

Anyone have any luck getting GMail update to install?

I tried uninstall from Titanium backup and installing the 2.3.5 APK and had an install fail. I tried from the market as well and not successful.

Any other ideas?

I was able to get it working on Liberty v.8 by doing the following:

Use Root Explorer to rename Gmail.apk to something else or move it to another folder complete. Then reboot your phone.

Download Gmail from the market which installs it into the /data/app folder. Gmail will then force close if you try to use it.

Next go into the /data/app folder and move the Gmail apk file that the market installed (don't have the exact name, just look for the logo) to the /system/app folder.

Rename that apk file to Gmail.apk then click on it and install it. Once the install has finished reboot your phone and you should have the newly updated Gmail.

Download the gmail.apk from the web or source other than the market to your SD card uninstall current version then reboot your phone then navigate to your gmail.apk file that you saved and install.. That should do it as it worked for me.. I feel these errors are in connection with the custom rom which needs to be addressed by the devs.. Hope this helps..

I had the same problem. I uninstalled Gmail through Titanium then rebooted and installed the new Gmail through the market. I had the black themed Gmail from Liberty before.
