gmail account deletion

I have 2 gmail email accounts entered in my droid, however I deleted one on line through google. Now I am trying to delete it from my droid and the phone gives me a message to do that I would have to restore my droid to its factory settings...WHY Is there any other solutions? I already have my other gmail account on my droid.
