Galaxy SIII Telephone Issues

I ahve had my S3 for 2 months. I cannot make phone calls from inside my house. I was able to do this with my DroidX. Verizon says I am on the edge of their coverage, and want to sell me a range extender for $250. Anybody have any luck with this?
Verizon thinks the phone mught have an issue, that a the new software update may fix the problem. Samsung, of course, says that the update won't help, that there is nothing wrong with the phone, and that it is Verizon's problem. You know, the same old finger pointing.
My best guess is to go back to my DroidX, but I hate to lose the new features that the S3 gives to me.
Does anybody have any ideas? It would be nice if Verizon was monitoring this and had some more input.

ok i would try to get an exchange if they will do it for you... I am gonna try an extender myself too just because my reception sucks... but i think its the phone but i want to give it the benifit of the doubt..

they offered it too me $150 If i wanted it! I would call and c but i would try and get warrenty replacement, verizon good bout doing that part anyways...

I to have the same problem. I talked Verizon into sending me the range extender for free. It has improved making and receiving calls in most of my home. FYI the range extender is voip for your phone so it does not boost signal just re-routes your calls.

What is the signal level of your S3 vs the Motorola phones? One friend has the Verizon range extender. No phones previously worked in his house. Now no calls are missed. Another has a Wilson amp designed for upto five devices. He's also happy with his setup. Going back to the DX would be a big step backward.

they from -105- -95 and the girls razr is -90 and below..i may switch it out back to razr, sacrifice the S3 if its a reception thing,

Is it the radios that are bad on the S3 in regards to the reception issues everyone seems to have or just bad cell service area??

The radios in the S3 are not bad compared to other Samsung devices on Verizon. In my experience, they're slightly weaker than the radios in devices such as the RAZR/MAXX and the Rezound, but they're still pretty good and very usable.

There are many things that impact reception, and geographic location is always one of the major ones. Since there's a lot that goes into a reception that any given person gets, it's tough to say why some some people get good reception and why some people seem to get bad reception.
