I echo your sentiments exactly. This is My first Sammy phone, and I already have second thoughts. I totally dig my Rezound, but needed to use my last upgrade to lock in unlimited data. At least we have 14 days to play with it to see how it keeps up. I plan to see how many of my games i can load before filling the phone. That was the most irritating thing about the HTC Eris, is constantly having to delete one app to play with another. Cant believe Samsung would do this, and for what purpose?

Did you see my post above? This is NOT a Samsung issue. My Bionic is the same, and I'm pretty sure that similar Moto phones (Razr, Razr Maxx) are, too. Of course, these phones all have about 10 times the internal app storage space of your old Eris.

I'm not sure how that changes anything i said. Whether it is Samsung's problem alone or Not, it is a Samsung phone that we are discussing, and a Samsung phone that I ordered, and a Samsung phone that i will have to deal with. Obviously there is more room than on the Eris, I couldn't even play angry birds on that phone. I am still disappointed by their decision. Both my Eris and my Rezound have this capability.
Has anyone with a Bionic, or any other phone with these restrictions had trouble with running out of space? Should I be worried?

My Bionic has 4GB of internal memory reserved for apps, and 8GB of internal memory called the "media area" (which is where apps go when you try to move them to an SD card). So that's a total of 12GB. The 210 apps that I have on my phone after 10 months of use are taking up about 1.6GB. I don't know about others, but I know I'll never run out of space for apps.

Good to know and informative post. Thanks, TD!

My usage is similar - about the same number of apps and maybe half a dozen games. All my media is either on my Inc's SD card or somewhere on the "cloud" (Dropbox, AMZN, Google). The 16GB S3 should be good enough for me. Unless I decide to trade it for the Inc 4G. Decisions, decisions.

You should not be worried, as 11 Gigs should me more than enough space for a boat load of apps, the thing that is bothersome is the fact that you can add up to a 64 Gig micro sd card and not be able to transfer any of your apps to it, now for Apple to do something like this would not be shocking, but an Android device, seems strange to me. I am sure once the majority of people receive their phones and realize this shortcoming and the venting starts, Samsung hopefully has a real good excuse for such an omission. And again, what on Gods greeen earth where they thinking, I mean don't they have enough to worry about with Apple litigating them to death, I guess they just love turmoil.

It is good to hear that there should be plenty of room on the S3 for lots of apps. I was really starting to question my decision. Now another question.
What do you do with a 64G card if you cant store apps on it. Is the external SD card only for music and pictures? What else can you do with it(outside from ROMing)?

i think i got it

:)After playing around with the phone for 2weeks I finally figured it out. You have to go to the app screen, look for my files.. You should see sd and ext sd card. On the sd card find the file that you want to move. select move then go to ext sd and make a new folder the select done and the app will be moved from sd to ext sd on phone

So it is possible to move files. Do you mean Apps? I would assume that you could move files anywhere, but will the App File Work if it is located on the external SD? Can anyone else confirm this? I wont get my phone for another few days.

You can move any of your files to external micro sd card, EXCEPT apps from the Google Play Store, every S3 has this omission including the European version.

Yeah, That is what i expected. Bummer again i guess.

Still curious what you do with the external SD card if you cant use it for apps. Anything other than music or pictures?

Me personally all my music and movies "not porn:)", actual movies I burn using Catalyst4, and my apps go to my phones storage, I got the 16Gig S3 pebble blue, which leaves me with at least 11 Gigs for apps, more than enough for me, with plenty of space to spare.

Are you able to put HD movies on your phone using that program. That is one of my biggest dissappointments about the Rezound. It has an HD screen, but Netflix wont play HD. I could definitely get down on having my own movies with me. How much space does a 2 hour movie take up?

yes, DVD Catalyst is awesome, for $10 you can not go wrong, and everytime there is an upgrade it is free, I started out with DVD Catalyst 3. Once you load it it has a list of devices to choose from "pretty much every device out there", and it gives you quality options for each device, it is sweet. On my Rezound I have , Avatar "crappy movie, but fantastic visuals, especially on my Rezound with the razor sharp screen", Matrix trilogy, saving private Ryan, inception, gladiator. Once you load the movie and have you device chosen in Catalyst4 it automatically burns it and then transfers it to you device which needs to be plugged into the pc as a hard drive. Go to www.dvdcatalyst.com , it gives you a free version to try, same as payed, but you only can load up to 30 minutes of a movie " again" its the free version so you get a taste before you spend the whole $10, hehe.
