Its no shock that they did this. When i worked at an AT&T retailer, we would take pre-orders on phones even if corporate wasn't.

I do not understand why the mystery. VZW took a smilar path with the ThunderBolt. Not sure how to connect the dots on this one.

Nice! I'm 30min from Blacksburg (Roanoke). I wonder if my local VZW will let me pay ahead for mine. I just want the piece of mind that I won't have to search for this phone once it's available.

How do you Identify a retail store from a corporate one? Other than looking it up on the vzw page?

I know this sounds stupid but I have had this disagreement before with somebody else. I could have swore the store that I used was a corporate store... had the big verizon wireless sign out front and nothing else.

But the other person insisted that it was not a corporate store.

Please clarify just for my peace of mind??

Best way is to go to Verizon's direct page and they will tell you if it's a corporate or affiliate store.

If it doesn't read "Joe Shmoe Wireless, a Premium Retailer" underneath, or something along those lines, then it's a corporate store.

Log onto VZW or your VZW account and click the store locator tab. It only returns corporate stores

I've had good experience with the premium retail stores. They are generally not as crowded, have all the same products, and the employees are just as helpful. Its not like they are rip off verizon stores. They are trained just like the corporate reps are. I've found that they are also sometimes more affordable. The biggest downside I've found though is they can't bill equipment to your account.
