Fun things to get after root?

I rooted my droid X today (Thanks guys) and I keep finding a lot of stuff on here like ROMs and stuff but idk what I should do to make my phone super fun. What are some things you guys downloaded and how do I go about downloading them?

Thanks.

Depends entirely on your definition of fun.

For example, you don't have to be rooted to play Angry Birds. ;)

ROMs you download and install via Clockwork/Bootstrap.

What is your definition of "fun?" I'm not being smart, but some people like playing games and other people, like myself, likes installing a new ROM every other day.

wireless tether is a good app to have when rooted.

root explorer to get rid of the bloatware is good too.

What's bloatware? And fun 2 me is anything interesting not necessarily games And I'll try uninstall/reinstall tomorrow. Thank you guys

bloatware is the apps we'll never use; VZW Navigator, VZW apps, amazon mp3, etc. Those are some of the ones I got rid of using root access. I didn't actually delete them, but disabled them and stopped them from showing up in my app drawer.

How do I make sure the numbers match and how do I install a theme? Which 1 do you suggest? Sorry for so many questions :/ but I reinstalled bootstrap and I backed it up but got "Error while making a yaffs2 image of /system/!" What do I do? There's a "apply sdcard:update.zip and I clicked it but said are you sure it cannot be done so I got scared and didn't do it.

Mike -- I'm guessing that's your name -- I'm going to make myself really unpopular here and strongly suggest that you unroot your phone before you do something you don't understand and can't be undone that will wreck your device. Unless you have $500 (or don't mind playing with Asurian) you can afford to toss around, you really shouldn't be where you are right now.

Having said that, I'm not saying you have to stay stock forever. Start reading. Go to Droid X Forum and start studying. They will have guides and tutorials and how-tos for you to learn what you need to so you don't brick your phone. :) From what you've posted so far I can tell that you don't know anywhere near enough to start hacking your phone. The risks with the X are far, far greater than the D1 due to the encrypted bootloader. If you install the wrong ROM you can brick your phone. If you install the wrong theme you can brick your phone. If you flash the wrong SBF you can brick your phone. If you don't understand what I just said you will brick your phone. Nobody here wants to see that happen, least of all me. :) Just trying to play it safe, okay?

You should be where you need to be in a matter of days if you're willing to do the reading. How about an early Christmas present? :D

Haha I understand and thank you for the concern. I didn't plan on doing anything at all until the end of the week or at least after I knew what I was doing. I was just trying to completely back up my phone incase something happened not necessarily from the root. Thank you again for the concern though.

You're welcome. :)

If you want to stay rooted and just not touch anything, that's fine. I'd suggest you pick up a copy of Titanium Backup and back up all your apps and stuff. That's a good start, and you can't use Ti Backup unless you're rooted. Then you'll have all your apps, data, texts, and whatnot when you flash your first ROM.

Oh, and make sure all your contacts are backed up with Google. You DON'T want to lose those. :)

I'm going to suggest three things -- unroot and reroot with z4, back up and format your X's SD card on your computer, and do a hard reset after you uninstall bootstrap. Start with the first one and try Ti again, then move on to the second one, and then the third one if the first two fail. Sometimes the software on these phones gets glitched. :)
