Free alternative to tasked to display unread corp emails?

Is there anything out there that can do this on screen (not motif bar) for free?

Not entirely sure what your question is, but Pure Messenger has a widget that can display corporate emails (and a host of other messages), with an option to show only unread. Costs $3-$4 but you won't regret it.

One caveat: corporate email, especially if exchange, requires K9 for Pure and can be a bit tough to set-up, especially if your IT doesn't help you.

Here's my situation:
I hide my notif bar on my homescreen. Because of that, I don't have a visual notification of work emails. Im looking for something that would give me a visual notification such as a popup like handcent or a number on the icon to show unread messages.

I am not sure what you will find for free for your email, but I use gmail to push my work emails and since I use Launcher Pro which hides my nofitication bar I use an app to show unread mails/calls/text along with K-9 and an email notifier app, all free, but it might not be what you are looking for, see pics...

That's exactly what I'm looking for, but I can't find one that works with the native email app and corp sync.

I don't know that you'll find one. I'll probably butcher the terminology, but I don't think Google released the email/corp email API to developers which is why it's so hard to find a good integrated in-box. K9 and Touchdown are the only apps I'm aware of that offer 3rd party solutions for corp email, and so any sort of widget/count like what you are looking for probably has to utilize one of those two programs.

Maybe things have changed, and if they have I'm sure someone will correct me.

Yes I agree, but I AM NO expert like the others, gee Im not even rooted, .. but this is just my experience.. Coming from a Blackberry I resisted using a third party app, then my stock email became very unreliable, the only way to get all messages was to do a manual refresh. So I finally gave in and use free app K-9, use SMS Unread Count (for the missed calls/texts/ email(only works for gmail) and use E-mail Notifier for the Pop up... Just try it until you find exactly what you are looking for if its even out there...
